Hi,
I've got these on my bike http://www.bontrager.com/Mountain/Wheel ... s/5766.php I don't know alot about whats good and whats not in wheels but been looking at some Hope hubs with Mavic rims (XM819) but don't really know if it's a worth while upgrade ? Would they be a good upgrade and would they save a little weight ?

Looks like a good wheelset to me! Whats wrong with it? Seems a lot of money to spend o save just a few grams.0

ProIIs with 819s and DT Comp spokes would be slightly heavier (but also slightly stronger due to a heavier rim and more spokes)"Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0

The hubs are re-badged DT 240s. They're very light, durable and expensive, so I'm not sure Pro IIs would amount to an upgrade. Have you considered just upgrading the rims and spokes, which must be on the heavy side given the high-ish overall weight? (100g more than claimed). The one snag is that the hubs are only 28 hole, so you may struggle to find compatible Mavic rims. You can get the excellent lightweight DT 4.ds in 28 hole if you shop around. Petra Cycles have them, I think, and you could probably get the rims, spokes and a re-build for under £100.
This is something I considered doing myself, and may still at some point, but I've decided I'm happy for the time being. As Supersonic says, they're good (and, in my experience, versatile) wheels and worth making the most of.2007 Trek 8500:

Thanks,
I've always wanted some Hope hubs but if it's not really an upgrade from what I have now or going to save much weight I would be better off waiting until I need some new wheels and spend my money else where on the bike. I do want to change my Sram shifters to Shimano as I do prefer the Shimano's so I think I will do thia first, my Hope hubs will just have to wait
