Fox DHX Shock cleaning

hi all.
this thread is on behalf of a friend who doesnt have an account. he recently got a very nice Kona Stab Deluxe DHL bike with a Fox DHX shock, but as he had a hardtail before he got it, he doesnt know how to safely clean the shock (and being a hardtail owner, neither do i).
any suggestions or methods appreciated.

Wipe with a damp cloth. Then follow maintenance instructions.

Personally I wouldnt use it, just plain water.

i use muc off wiht my dhx air. not affected it. in fact i just clean all my shocks wiht normal water and muc off
