upgrading basic bike bits

Any recommends for decent handlebar grips (preferrably that lock on)?

Also just noticed one of my brake levers is a bit damaged! (I have no luck this last few days), I may get new brakes/gear levers at the same time - are these okay?

Or do I not need to match gears/brake levers?

And are new brakes a good thing to buy?

BTW I have an oldish hybrid (chromoly frame, and had to replace all the gears and chain in the autumn) so just want to upgrade the bits really. It has 7 speed at the back, which makes gears cheap!

With brakes it depends. Are your current brakes attatched to your shifters (sti) or separate? And being a hybrid im assuming the are some form of cable brake as opposed to hydraulics.

if attatched then dont go for the edinburgh ones. They will be 8/9 speed which has a different amount of cable pull per shift. To be honest theres not really alot of great shifters for 7 speed anymore. If your running a cassette as opposed to a freewheel, upgrade to 8 or 9 and get a set of deore sti shifters or upwards.

i have big fat chunky yetti ones on my mountain bike

however, be careful with the allen key screws, use a decent allen key or they arent coming off again...

you'd need to get the bonus pack as they contain the lock rings, the others are just replacement grips

if you do get them, then yes you are putting the lock on rings on right, they are that tight, yes its normal.
