Does anyone have any experience of cycling along the Nivernais canal - which runs from Auxerre in northern Burgundy to the Loire?

Alternatively: the "way of St.Martin" which runs down the Loire?

Ok not experience, but you might find this site worth checking out:

In particular there's a very nice brochure here (4.77Mb download). Brochure is in French (might be an English version somewhere) but the pictures and maps might be useful.

Friends cycled on the Nivernais last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. they thought that the cycling and scenery were far better than the Canal de Bourgogne.
check out our website at www.magfos.com for stories and photos of our trips.

but not the one you mention)

  • Excellent; thanks. Shall report back. I must also remember to leave my London-commute tactics behind.
