It's the biathlon world championships in 2 weeks time and Germany is expected to do well there and the current German sportswoman of the year is a 21 year old biathlete prodigy.
I notice that ARD has rewritten that article in the last hour to make it (the TV channel) appear a bit less pro-active in regard to its investigative activities. That's an interesting use of new media ephemerality – make a statement, then amend it with a subtly different emphasis. (well, I do that all the time, but that's more to do with poor spelling 8) )
I just wonder if they are trying to repeat the furore that occurred ahead of the World Cycling championships in Germany last year.0 -
Seems everyone's at it, not just sportsmen and women. Hip-hop artists are bulking up too: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/15/arts/ ... 5hiph.html
Who's next? Priests? Architects? Bin-men?
I expect that the 'war' against performance-enhancing drugs is in a similar state as was the 'war' against recreational drugs was in the mid-80s. Or something. Basically, everyone's at it.0 -
Biathlon and cross country skiing are big TV sports in Germany, so this is huge news.=====================

They admitted that only retire biathletes were implicated, so none of the current crop of stars.
The Austrian investigators apparently stopped investigating once they found out the Russian mafia was involved somehow.0
