Pedal choices - help me please!

Hello lads and lasses.
I'm looking to buy clipless pedals for my Trek 7.2 “sports hybrid” and I need some help please? Have been reading various articles and postings and they’ve left me feeling rather confused.
Essentially, I use this bike for pacing the “runner in my life” so I do 5-10 miles twice a week and 10-15 miles on a Saturday at running pace. On a Sunday we’ll go for a longer, “faster-than-running” pace ride, say 30-40 miles. Am looking to upgrade my bike but that's well into the future (when a few more pounds have dropped off!!)
I don’t use the bike for commuting to and from the train station so there’s no need for me to be able to walk in the shoes.
I’ve been reading that the comfort of the shoe is most important so have tried on, and am happy with, Specialized’s Sport Road shoe.
But what pedals?
I’m down to:
Look Keo Classics
Shimano PD-R450 SPD SL Sport pedals
Both seem to be good entry level pedals, and am trying to keep total cost below £100 for both pedals and shoes (shoes currently £54 in local shop)
Does anyone have any opinions please?

They take me slightly over my budget (imposed in case I don't get on with clipless pedals).0

The model above the SPD-SLs you mention - but they are pretty cheap on the ebay!0 -
I do love my Time Atac pedals. And the cleats never ever wear out - unlike my Look pedals.0

Thanks for the suggestions
Decided to go for the R540's - mainly due to budget but will keep the Time's in mind when I upgrade the bike later this year
Wish me luck!
Off to practice somewhere with a soft landing.....0 -

How much were they?0 -
I paid £35 in Cycle Surgery, reduced from £40
Could have bought them cheaper off E-Bay but am rather hesiatant - have heard too many horror stories!
Also, I got good advice re attaching them and practising, and have bought stuff before off these guys (Spitalfields Market branch) so felt it was worth keeping up the relationship / after sales care0 -

I got the new model with the metal plates rather than plastic for £33 off ebay - not really any horror stories.
I've bought all my pedals off that guy - the old 105s and this years 105s. The old 105s I've got are like the pedals you've got and the plastic plates on the pedals wear rather quickly, hence the suggestion of the new pedals.
