I saw on the news today that the pound has been falling against the Euro for a little while and is now at a near record low. Does that mean that buying shiny stuff from europe is now going to be much more expensive? Whats the lag time between the strength of the pound falling and the price of things in the shops going up?

The pound hit a record low against the Euro a couple of weeks ago and has since fallen further to new lows. Some say it will fall further but it's hard to predict the weather for the weekend, yet alone an exchange rate in several months' time.

As for the bike kit, it varies. If you've got your eyes on something European, buy it now as it might go up, suppliers are unlikely to absorb the rising costs. Wider, though many shops like supermarkets find it hard to pass rising prices onto customers, so in other shops things like furniture or cars might not rise as much.

So we can wave goodbye to discounted prices on all that lovely European kit for the time being then? Campag, Fulcrum, Mavic, Time, Look, Colnago...etcetcetc.

Your not talking 50% changes, so it will still be available, possibly just a little more expensive.

Retailers of US gear haven't been lowering the prices, so its swings and roundabouts really.
