A shop near me has a brand new 2007 Trek 8500 disk for sale was originally £1400 can get it for £1000 does anyone know from experience if these bikes are any good, Had Treks before and never had any problems. Certainly looks very nice with XT/XTR etc. Any help would be appreciated. 8)

  • They are generally a very highly regarded bike.Excellent frames.Sounds like a reasonable deal to me.

Last year`s XT groupset,is still very good.I have the same set up on my bike and it is good reliable, and smooth shifting.

Dual control shifters are a love/hate thing, but again I have them, and once learned I find them more intutitive than conventional shifters.

Its more of a race bike,so arse up head down riding psition,so make sure you are comfortable, before you buy.

Sound advice there mate going to the shop tonight to have a look at it. Think I had dual shifters on my last trek thought they was better than conventional shifters. So looks like a good all round package and theres plenty of upgrades out there as im definatly one for pretty bits. Thanks for your help mate :D

hi, i had a 2006 8500 and thought it was a cracking bike, light and very well specced for the price. iirc in 2007 the forks went from 80mm to 100mm of travel. but definatly try and get a test ride or make sure its comfy, cause as spiderman said it is an arse up head down bike which may be an issue if your do all day epics. happy huntin

great frame and takes a lot of abuse.
