A baroness apparently hit a RLJing cyclist outside the House of Lords.

Some of the comments were made by viewers were rather stereotypical.

Penny Smith said if it's ok for cyclists to bang on cars (when you nearly kill) there's nothing wrong with a pedestrian to try and knock a cyclist off.

And now they want cyclist's to get licensed.......

I'm glad I don't live in London.

I've just watched Road Rage:

In the bit where a kid gets knocked over at a junction - I think the kid has some responsbility aswell. I bet he wouldn't cross the road if a car was coming - I certainly wouldn't have tried crossing the road if a bike was whizzing at me.

I think the problem is that, everyone thinks they are in the right, and have no consideration for others, motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

Disagreee completely with your comment about the Kid Red. Pedestrian crossing outside a junior school. If it'd been my kid, the cyclist wouldn't have been riding for a while!

As to the GMTV, complete garbage way that GMTV handled it. I liked the way they'd got the poll question about whether cyclists should be licenced/registered. Only problem is neither of their guests (the baronness or Mr. Geffen from the CTC) were advocating it. In fact both of them said it WASN'T the way to go. Seemed like extremely sloppy, sensationalist journalism.

I voted at 6:45 this a.m. it was at 60%+ saying 'NO'

What do you expect, it's GMTV.
    TV's equivalent of the Sun.
Look at the way that Kate whatsherface swayed public opinion in the Strictly come dancing contest, she couldn't put one foot in front of the othere, misuse of power? As for the Baroness whacking the RLJer, good for her, but she needs to be careful, someone might just strike back, then how would the law stand? Would she be guilty of assault?

    My perspective as a pedestrian:

Would you expect a car to stop? I never and only cross when the cars have stopped even if there's a green man - so why assume a bike will stop?

Luckily for that kid it was only a bike - if it had been a car he wouldn't have been so lucky.

I'm not saying the cyclist was right in going through the light - he was way out of order - but even I knew as a kid that the green man doesn't mean GO these days - and you should always expect the worst.

Cyclists to be licenced because SOME of them may cause a danger and break the law?

I'm starting a campaign to licence women's handbags because some women (eg this pompous bully of a peer) use their handbags to cause a danger ( to cyclists) and break the law ( ie assault).

I'm interested she attacks defenceless cyclists, but I bet she doesn't attack lorries, buses cars etc that jump the lights also. She is just a bully picking on those in a weaker position than her - and what is worse she is proud of her bullying and is being feted for being a bully

Whether anyone returned "fire" or not, the baroness on her own admission is guilty of an assault

I would have said the Daily Mail or the Daily Express TBH. Paranoid beyond the Suns level and utterly inane.

The "Scottish" sun this morning had a quote from "A Readers Letter", on the basis it was a well phrased paragraph I realised it couldn't be a Sun reader. It was signed by Some doctor and then it hit me, of course, it wasn't a Sun readers letter, It must have been a misdirected letter to the Times.

Interestingly the front page of the Daily Record had a map of Padeophile attacks on their front page, seems Scotland stops at a lien drawn between Glenrothes and Oban. I;m sure I did once see someone buying the Record in Dundee... No I tell a lie, he had convinced the shop keeper to give him the page with the crossword on it to do in the pub.

Wonder how unbearable DC Thompson TV would be!.

The child probably would have more chance of surviving an impact with a car at 30mph than a bike. With the car there is a chance of it being one designed with such impacts in mind.

I don't live in London either, for which I am very grateful, but I do ride here, and the behaviour of all road users - cars, peds and bikes - is frankly shocking.

What's this Road rage kid thing? The pedestrian has right of way on a crossing, bikes should be slowing down as they approach, particularly if they see a kid near the crossing. THEY wouldn't have carried on if it was a car crossing their path.

If a bike knocked over my kid on a crossing I'd fuc&ing batter the rider, no questions asked. Sorry, but riders in London particularly treat pedestrian crossings like they don't exist, I get funny looks from peds when I stop to let them cross.

It's just a hill. Get over it.

Yeah, the kid has right of way and it's entierly the blame of the cyclist if he gets knocked down. A more clued up kid may have been more careful and avoided the accident but the fact that he didn't doesn't make it his fault in the slightest.
