slacken the 12mm allen bolt and then tap it to loosen it. then you should be able to push it up out of the steerer."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Not had any problems with mine, I'd rather have a hed doctor than an SFN eating my steerer tube.Intense Socom

Two bikes ive built from scratch ive used head doctors with no problems, simple device and loads better than a sfn0

Why better? They cost 10 times as much, do the job no better, are frequently over tightened because its hard to judge the fitting torque, and often sieze!0

I snapped my head doctor. I dont rate them. Id rather something sturdy holding my forks on!0

ive had no problems with mine. in fact the star nuts tend to fall out or move after a while ive found. the head doc. is much more sturdy.I said hit the brakes not the tree!!

Never had to adjust mine since I fitted it which is more than I can say for an SFN. Piece of pish to fit (no tools needed), if you follow the instructions (to grease the threads before fitting) they don't seize and the torque is dead easy to judge. If you use a torque wrench of course...
Wouldn't go back to SFNs for love nor money.0 -
Why would you need to adjust an SFN ?
The only tools you need to fit an SFN is a mallet and the bolt from your headset cap using the cap to make sure the SFN goes in straight.
Head Doctors are ok if you're a serial fork swopper and want to use the Head Doctor from fork to fork, otherwise I don't think they're that good from my experience of them and I use SFNs now.Dave S0
