I'm heading off to Snowdonia for a long weekend of riding at Coed Y Brenin and then going to finish the weekend off with ride round the Penmachno trail. I'm not sure I've got the best tyres for the job.

I'm currently using Speicalized Enduro Pro tyres like these.

They seemed to do the job fine when I was in Les Arcs over the summer, but it was bone dry there, and I'm a little worried that they might be a bit on the slippery side on the wet rocks of North Wales.

Has anyone got any suggestions on what tyre to buy:?: Especially if they've tried and tested them there :!:

Thanks peeps :)

Yeah, those ones look a bit shallow to me.
    Top recommendation- panaracer trailrakers

nice and deep and made for exactly what you want

    Second- panaracer fire mud pro

again made for the boggy stuff. A bit of a fan of the panaracers, but maybe its because i switched from a crap set of innovas to a lovely set of cinders. those wouldnt be bad either. Hope that helps! :D

I'd stick with what you've got. Sure there'll be mud in Snowdonia but there'll be rocks as well and a tall mud tyre squirms on rock. You need a jack of all trades which looks to me to be what you've got.

If you definately want to buy a mud tyre, I'd look at a shallower one than the Trailraker - Maxxis Swampthing or Medusa, or Bonty Mud X.

I have a set of Intense Intruder mud tyres http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=11007 that I used on my Kona last year, but can't actually get them the DT Swiss rims on my Spesh Enduro SL. Snapped 3 tyre levers attempting to get them on, before giving up. Shame really, as they're quality tyres. They do wear down quickly tho!

I didn't think they'd be suitable for the rocky stuff in Snowdonia anyway. Too much squirm as you say, Better for Afan/Whytes level area.

Maybe I'll stick with the Enduro Pro's then and see how they perform! Still got a few weeks before I go so anyone else with an opinion, fire away!?
