sticky cables? undo & remove the inner cable & spray WD40 (or similar) through the outer cable, taking care not to get it onto the pads or rotor. Refit inner cable, test brakes.

Better of using something like GT85 cos it has teflon in it to help lubrication in situations like this, WD40 is more for displacing water (WD get it  ).

U could also try one of those tiny little tea light candles and rub it over the inner cable b4 u put it all back together, the dry wax is an excellent lube.
  • Cheers Guys I'll give it a go
  • my rear brake (mechanical disc) gets stuck a lot too. I thought that this was the cables getting stuck at 1st but then found that the brake was getting stuck at the lever end.

Plenty of WD40 seemed to sort it out but it needs doing every now and again. Guess the back doesn't get as much use the front (and it gets a lot more mud over it).
  • I am having trouble with my Shockwave XT750 disc brakes, front wheel is quite stiff as if brakes are sticking, only had it a week, will they bed in and stiffness wear off in time :?:
