I bought some veloce brakes which I assumed would simply replace my existing set yet it looks like they're not compatible with what I have

My existing brakes have the screw thread as part of the brake block itself and looks like I just replace the pad rather than the whole thing... I'm assuming I need some of these then?

Am I right or should I just head to the shop and ask?

thanks

When you say you bought some Veloce brakes, do you mean you bought some Veloce brake blocks, then?

You could remove the existing pads + holders and fit the new one-piece veloce brake blocks if you want to. Or, better still, get some cartridge-style pads as you suggest.

What brakes do you actually have? And I mean what calipers? Are they Campag Veloce too? Because the pads shown on the wiggle site are for Record/Chorus/Centaur brakes. If your brakes are Campag and they are cartridge-style as you describe then I'm fairly sure that they'll fit your brakes.
I'm only concerned with looking concerned

they're veloce calipers yes, so I assumed these would do the trick

but I didn't have the bolt to secure them, so I assume the ones I need I linked above.

I think the cartridge is the best as you mention...cheers

Which year are your Veloce calipers? Since 2001 Veloce uses the same cartridge pads as Record/Chorus and Centaur though the pad holders are black rather than silver.

At £22.00 for 4 Mirage/Xenon for the 4 brake blocks it would be far cheaper to buy new Veloce calipers from Geoffrey Butler for £18.40 and then you get the better design of pad.
