i need to know what coil shock i can use on my specialized enduro 2006 model as the air one keeps playing up and i want at least a bit of confidence in it when i ride because at the moment it is unpredictable.
i know it was in mbuk quite a while back i cant seem to find the article again though
any help in the matter would be good thanks

  • I have the same frame and have had nothing but problems with the DHX air piece of poo.

It has stuck down THREE times and is currently stuck down again!!!

No way im paying mojo £95 plus postage to fix a shock that may/will break again.

i2i length is 222 and stroke is 63 so £300 for a DHX5 coil sounds tempting. The next question is, will the piggyback hit the frame????

Seems a real shame that a crappy shock is spoiling our fun. Try typing fox stuck down into google, what a joke.

    :(

Didnt see the article about replacing it in MBUK but have back issues going back a few years.

Haven't had any probs with my Fox Float shock on my Giant Trance but I'm using it for XC/AM.

If you're hammering it, you probably would be better with a coil shock and take the weight penalty with it.

If you go for a standard DHX coil, you'll have to run the slacker angle low BB shock shuttle upper mount, or the Schraeder valve on the "piggy back" will hit the frame.
Mojo should be able to set you up with a factory set IFP pressure version that's capped off, and will allow the shock to clear the frame with the high BB steeper head angle shuttle.
But if you're looking for a coil shock, you'll probably want to run it slacker anyway.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Have you got an SX Trail version? Different shuttles on those.
