Buying shoes - internet sizing?

Hey folks,
I'm after a pair of shoes for some flatties. Quite taken with the Marzocchi Bomber shoes which look, frankly, sexy. I've never bought shoes from the 'tinternet before and I've no idea where I could try a pair around Chester so I'm a bit concerned about sizing. Normally I'm between an 8 or a 9 depending on the make of the shoe. For example, my work shoes are 8, my running shoes are a 9 and still quite snug.
Does anyone have any advice? Is the buy a size 'bigger and wear thick socks' approach a good 'un? Obviously don't want to spend so much on some shoesies and have them not fit properly etc.
Thanks,
Sym

itsthings this like shoes that you want to try on before you buy.
I would try and get to a stockists first, if you dont want to be returning stuff thats the wrong size.Dreaming of a Flowing, Downhill, Singletrack, Double jumping, Hardtail paradise0 -
Don't know if this helps but when I buy true biking shoes I always have to buy 1 half size size down from my normal walking or jogging shoes.....otherwise they are a little too big. Now this could vary from company to company but it's pretty much been the same with every brand I've tried.....and there is nothing worse than having shoes too loose with your feet moving around while riding the trails.0

Well I got itchy and bought the shoes in size 8 anyway, so your opinion is somewhat reassuring Silenthillz! They should arrive soon so I'll soon find out.
Of course, buying a decent pair of shoes was also the perfect excuse for a set of Crank Bros 5050 pedals too. They'd be wasted otherwise! Honest
Anyway, cheers for the advice and roll on next weekend!0 -
With my Shimano and Diadora shoes I have had to size up.
My usual size is 44.5/10.
Shimano's I had to get in 47 (!) and Diadora's were spot on in 45's.

Yeah every brand is going to be different so if ordering online make sure there is a return policy.0
