"We are the most explosive riders in Belgium and Europe," the 2005 World Champion told the Belgian newspaper "Le Derniere Heure". "I am sure that we can pull it off in Beijing." His track team-mates would be Gert Steegmans, Sébastien Rosseler and Wouter Weylandt. Instead of years to work together, they would have about three weeks, because "before August we naturally have other things in mind", like the Tour de France.

Can't see it happening in reality, but it would be cool to see.

    Hi there.

The Belgian Olympic committee must be a really bizarre place to be... This news comes on top of a report I read last week than Sven Nys was considering riding the olympic xc mountain bike race - on a cross bike.

What I don't get is that the article above kinda suggested that some other 4 chumps would have to toddle along to a World Cup track meet and qualify Belgium for the olympics, then do the patriotic thing and stand aside for Boonen and his pals. Thats Boonen who lived in Monaco to avoid paying the Belgian taxman that would presumably fund their pointless trip to China.

All in all, I'm dismissing this as a PR stunt.

    Cheers, Andy
