2008 Stumpjumper FSR, is the brain fade any good?

I've narrowed down my new bike to one of these two models of Stumpjumper.. the Expert or the Ellite. Does anyone having any ridding experience with any of these models? I'm interested to know how effective the Brain fade on the Expert is in reality. The theory sounds great, but is the rear suspension as responsive as a 'normal' Fox triad shock? :?

I've got an 07 Stumpy Elite with the Triad, haven't ridden with the brain but the Triad in pro-pedal is pretty good, don't have any pedal feed back and I usually leave it in Pro-pedal all the time. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
HI
I have had an expert for about a year now. I tried both this and one with a Triad before I bought as the local guys had a good range of test bikes. You can guess the advice I would give. Not just that but the SRAM XO/X9 and Avid breaks are noticably different. I haven't tried the '08 models but if there is a choice. Take the Brain rear shock and the XO mech. Great gear.
Hope this helps0 -
I have ridden an 07 model a few times.
Off road it is great. It feels more like a hardtail at times, yet floats over rough stuff.
On road however I don't like it. The 'bounce' is quite noticable and I much prefer my XC with the rear locked out.
Personally, I would go for the pro pedal and save a bit of cash.
Having said that, my mate owns an 07 with brain and absolutely loves it.
Personal preference I'd afraid. Back to the good old comment 'get out & try them both before you buy'.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50
