Hi, Broke my chain pin extractor tool yesterday, and to be honest wasn't too happy with it anyway, so now I'm in the market for a new chain tool what is the best one to get, this will be a workshop one, not interested in carrying a chain tool with me when I go one rides.

Cheers

    I've got this one

Works well, comes with aneat little piece of wire that holds your chain together and has somewhere to store 2 shimano pins. It's pretty light and easily goes in the bottom of you bag if you want to take it out with you. Good reviews on CRC as well :D .

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

You could always get an SRAM chain with powerlink connector - you don't need any tools for that!
  • So how do you get the chain to the correct length?

Hmmm, good point!! I was thinking about trail side repairs where no tools are needed.

Get your friendly LBS to do it first??

You're right though. I still have a chain tool, and would not be without one either.

How often have you had to replace the pins on a chain tool (under normal usage)?

Not having a pop :D , just curious.

My Topeak one works fine and I've had it for ages (and it's cheaper and it comes with the cool bit of wire to hold your chain together).

I've got through so many cheapo chain tools...buy Park and it'll do you for a long long time!!

Cheap tools are false economy...ye gets what ye pay for!!! :D

My Park one was absolutely fine, until I left my saddkle bag open and scattered it around the woods with a selection of allen keys and a multi tool.

I got a Topeak Alien multi tool to replace it, and I must say the chain breaker on that is just as good as the Park.

    So perhaps that's another option?

But again we are not talking a chain tool to take on the trails were are talking WORKSHOP.
