Had mine for 4 years at a guess and there still fine. Started using them for D/H stuff then when I packed that in (getting old) I still use them for XC stuff. Keep your lower leg warm, but still well ventilated. Never had any issues with slipping down either, good adjustment.

I'm in a similar situation to you and I got a pair of 661 Kyle Strait kneepads. They're really well padded and have a solid plate on the front, quite comfy even on a full day ride and don't slip at all. They've increased my confidence a lot as I'm not constantly worried about protecting my knees in every situation.

I've got the 661 Race pads mentioned above and they've been comfortable enough to ride Cli-Mach and Marin Trail up and down, albeit in cool weather.

They cover so much of your leg that you don't need to wear long tights in weather where you would otherwise want to.
  • as above...661 :D
thinking happy thoughts....before the pixies steal them..

  • 661 Veggie wraps, haven't ridden without knee pads since 2004 after an off left a huge gash in my knee. feel really vulnerable without pads now, I also always wear 661 chickenwings as a matter of course.
