The perfect bike fit

Hello, I just collected my new bike today and love it! Went for a long jaunt on cycle path and then braved the city centre which was a trifle scary. Anyhoo, I did get fitted for my new bike earlier on in the week but I noticed today that whilst it's a really comfy fit in many ways - there's no space between the top tube and my crotch. The bike doesn't feel to big but I can't straddle it with my feet flat on the ground for obvious reasons. Can anyone give me any advice on this? I will be using the bike for commuting mostly on cylce paths although I'll be cruising the city too. Is this normal or do I need to take the bike back?
Many thanks in advance.

Stand on tip toes if I were you
Back to the bike shop to get them to fit the bike to you and you to it anyway. Ball of foot under back of knee at half stroke, etc?0 -
does it matter if you can't?
its not an ideal fit, but personally i keep my butt on my saddle when at a stop with one foot on the floor.

Only if you slip off the pedals Not sure about road bikes as i've noticed alot of them seem to have a straight top tube unlike Mountain Bikes & Hybrids that seem to have a sloping top tube ... When buying my mountain bike i was told to have at least 2" of clearance between the top tube & the family jewels
If it was me i'd take it back and get the shop to replace it
