  • Sounds about right, but you could be borderline between the L and XL.Size wise the length of the top tube is as important as the standover height.

The length of your legs,in relation to your torso, and arms will vary from person to person,so height is not the only criteria,by which you can judge size.

Only way to know what is right is to try one for size, preferably for a test ride, and see what feels right.

Some little pointers which might help you, size up your bike.

1)Ideally if you stick your elbow on the front edge of the saddle and stretch your fingers, your index finger should be on the stem cap.

2)When sat on the bike your arms should make a 45o angle with the bars with your hands resting on the grips.

    3) Ideally aim to have a minimum of 3" standover.

These are pointers,in the end whats matters is whther you feel comfortable.

I have a medium XTC,and am a shade under 6ft.I am on the upper limits of a medium, size wise, but my personal preference was for a frame that was a smidgen smaller, than too large.

There is a certain amount of fine tuning, you can do by swapping stems, bars and seatposts, anyway.

For instance,I have a longer layback seatpost and a 100mm stem.

Ideally ,swing your leg over a L and XL side by side,at a friendly local shop.
