Just asking, what material would you recommend for the interior of a bike workstand clamp?

My stand has a thick rubber insert on the clamp, safe on paint/seat post etc etc....0

Ohh god I've got no idea, it's just kind of rubbery... It's about 5mm thick, flexible but not to much..
If a picture will help then I'll happily take one this evening and post it up ?0
