Interesting to see how this pans out.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

  • Hopefully it'll pan out by implicating anyone who ought to be implicated (i.e. not just the riders) and make sure that Peurto avoids getting tagged Festina II where everyone gets off lightly.

They'll get nowhere unless the Spanish authorities co-operate - which seems unlikely unless the Italian Police can force their hand. The Spanish act like they've got a dirty big secret causing a large lump under the lounge carpet.

There was no crime committed in Spain and the judge won't let the sports authorties use the evidence to sanction riders.

The Italians have laws about this stuff so the evidence can be obtained for legal purposes. The why Ullrich's blood was tested because it was a legal rather than sporting thing.

...and why Basso is the only rider to be banned after all this, only the Italian authorities want to pursue things.

I'm surprised Valverde didn't name one of his newborn twins Eugenio, in honour of secretary general of the Spanish federation, Eugenio Bermudez.

Iain, I was reading Fuentes says he will not come from Gran Canaria of his own free will to Germany for any judicial type investigation, so I'd guess he'd not be up for a trip to Italy and get thrown in the can there. However, definitely, could be a problem for Contador as TDF goes to Italy

Given the way ASO is crusading against doping, it might well insist that any riders with question marks over them make themselves available for a chat with the Italian authorities.

If I was Contador and innocent, I'd be on the next plane to Italy with my lawyer, to set out the truth. More clouds of suspicion are not helpful, confronting them head on would be the fastest way to clear things up.

He's probably seen Frank Williams's problems with the Italian judicial authorities. Remember that they don't have a proper legal system over there!
Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.
