VDO computer mount

I have a VDO HC12.6 computer (star buy 2 yrs running in C+). The computer mount attaches to the bars with a rubber band (O ring) which has snapped. I contacted the distributor, Fisher outdoor, about replacements and have been told they are not available but I can buy a new mount complete for £10. Given that my wife also has the same computer and they're only 2 years old, I don't think that's much of a solution!

Can anyone advise where I can buy O rings? I've tried Maplins without success and despite the friendly chaps there having a good think about it - they couldn't come up with suggestions about who might sell them.

I know I could use an ordinary rubber band or wire perhaps but I'd like O rings if possible. I don't remove the mounts from the bikes so it's not as if the ring is constantly being overstreched to get it on and off.

Suggestions would be very welcome.

  • Hi
    you could try here

search for o rings and have a browse - hope you find what you need, cheers.
  • My 12.6 mount is a screw on thing rather than o-rings.

Anyone - back on track. You could try local engineering works - they're likely to have a selection box of them. Post up the size (diameter of circle and diameter ot cross section) and someone might have some the right size kicking about - no point you ordering hundreds if you don't have to!
Has the head wind picked up or the tail wind dropped off???

I have had great success with writing to VDO in Germany directly - they replaced 2 very old computers that failed, free of charge. They may well be able to supply the O rings. The products do have a 5 year warranty (which they honoured even without receipts). My initial attempts to get warranty help from Fisher was thoroughly fruitless and frustrating!!!!!

What about trying a trade plumbers merchants. They usually stock a huge range of different size o rings.
