I currently ride a 2004 spec enduro sx with a 5" fox vanilla rlc fork whilst having a fox vanilla shock at the back giving a travel of 4". I need to replace the shock bushes/bearings and having read about the betd products. I was thinking about going for the betd rear shock link which gives an increase to 5-6" of travel (cost £100). I wondered if anyone has any experience of these products and any feedback, as I am struggling to find any reviews/tests on there products.
Cheers Abs

  • Hi

they are based near to where I live so have been in there a few times, there kit has been reviewed a few times in the mags (pedals etc) and are very expensive BUT got good reviews/most wanted, I had a new shocker bush/pin fitted to my Cannondale which was made by them and it was supposed to be a better/ harder wearing one than the original Manitou bush and pin (which wore out after approx 1 1/2 years) and already the BETD bush has started to wear after only about 6 months and not a huge amount of miles, I'm not saying that this is the norm for there products as I'm sure there stuff is very good (how else would they stay in business) but as far as my after market bush/ pin is concerned, NOT impressed.

    hope this helps?

  • As an Update 28/02/2008, My buddy had the same bush replaced on his Spesh Stumpy by Betd at the same time as I had mine replaced (Fox shocker) and he says there is no play in his bush yet! So it could be that the loads on the Spesh's rear shocker are less punishing than those on my single pivot Prophet 1000's single pivot with no swing link etc to isolate side loads? or just a Poorly machined bush/pin?

    Hope this helps?

don,t know too much about the spesh part but there claimed increase of 2/3 times longer wear on there steel strong shock hardware & hula hoop bush is false if anything its wear is much quicker than the alloy ones & at £15.00 a pair i don,t see it.

there customer service is exellent but my reservations are that a little company in england can,t possibly know more than either of any of the top shock branded manufacturers.other than the fact it is muddier & rains a lot more over here so you would think there parts last.

i fitted a linkage to my (well now its the wifes) 04 stumpy. it increased the travel from 100 to 130 mm and raised the bb considerably. top notch in my opinion and looks good too. the hard wear has lasted fine and it is all still nice and tight. one thin g i did notice thou is that it changed the leverage on the shock so i needed to run about 30 psi more in my shock.
