Devil Ride Sportive - open for entries

The Devil Ride formally opened for entries today at http://www.devilride.co.uk - although in truth 50 or so people have entered already using a partially hidden link.

We will be publicising the opening throughout the next couple of days, and the limit is 500 (to ensure that we will not over tax logistics in the first year). From the advance interest and website hits we do expect to sell out, but to be honest as it is a new event have little idea how quickly places will go!

We believe the route and facilties can cope with more entries, so if the event is as successful and enjoyable as we expect we will increase the limit next year - the event will probably not break even this year, so we certainly hope so

Having tried to enter several times during the afternoon, I hit a problem each time I try to pay through the HSBC e-payments site. Has anyone else had this problem, or is it just me?!
  • Everything seems to be OK now - and it looks like you finally got past the HSBC glitch as I think you are in th enrty list :D But I would be interested to know what browser you were using as another rider emailed me this evening with what looks like a Safari issue.

    Cheers, Phil.

I encounterd the same problem many times and I entered through the partially hidden link. I retried after 30mins and got through but it was real slow. Good luck and hope you get in.

Yes, I've now registered succesfully thanks. The problem occurred when I was trying to register via a work pc, and when I used my home pc all was fine. The only difference was that home pc has the latest version of IE, whereas work's is a bit older.
  • I just entered this. Never been to Wales before and it didn't appear to conflict with anything else on my calendar so what the hell! Going a bit sportive mad at the moment! :)
  • A word to the wise,if you are thinking of booking accomadation over the weekend, there are a couple of weddings taking place in the town on the Saturday, and many of the B&B's have been pre booked re Wedding Guests.

I struggled, as most of places on the local tourist board, accessed via the ride website were full.

    Try.... www.smoothhound.co.uk

  • It is also worth trying places like Ludlow and Knighton, which are a fairly short drive away (the accommodation pages for the Autumn Epic at http://www.cyclosportives.co.uk have plenty of links for that area) - we'll be doing the same rive ourselves on the morning of the event! Also, Brecon, Llandrindod Wells etc are very easy to get to/from Builth.

I just got mine today in Wern Hir Farm.
Try this site and the places listed down the right: http://www.builth-wells.co.uk/accom.php

The Hollies Guest House Builth Wells had a room free when I asked earlier today.
