what will 2000 pounds get you?

Hi,

I'm finally going to upgrade to a full suspension bike, seeing as my old custom built rig is now nearing 15 years old.
I've been looking loads online but am getting lost for all the options, my personal favs so far are:
Marin mount vision
Lapierre Zesty 514
Giant Trance
Trek Feul
Commencal 5.5.2
Are there any great bikes that I'm missing, my buget is about 2000 pounds.
Bear in mind I'm in Germany and riding up and down about 2000 meters each ride, I want something that I can thrash down the hill but doesn't go like a pogo stick on the way back up.
Any help please?
I'm sure that rattling will go away...

Lapierre Zesty 514

You're deffo forgetting the Orange 5 with a budget like that!

You won't go far wrong with the Commencal Meta and I think that'll be the general consensus on here. Personally, I'm in your boat and going for an Orange 5 next month - For £2k you've got to fancy the bike as well is it ride well and the Meta doesn't quite do it for me.

It would be between those two for me too (in fact, as soon as I get the cash it is between those two for me  ). I'd suggest trying to ride both of them (I don't know if there are many Orange dealers in Germany) and see which you like best.

lets face it... 2grand will get you pretty much whatever you want with probably enough change to visit a massage parlour for a happy ending

If I were in your position, I'd have pretty much the same list you've got - and I'd be enjoying test riding as many as possible.

The new Trek Fuel looks really good and I'd like to try Giant's 5-inch version of their excellent Maestro suspension on the Trance X.

But average review in latest MBR so it's horses for courses.

Looking at Commencal myself and it felt good and Trance X also rode well.

    Didn't like the look myself.

Are they massively biased towards spesh's then?
  • Thanks guys,
damn, forgot about the orange, now the decision is even harder.
Cube has some good stuff here, but I know someone who tried one (AMS 125) and said it bounced like it was in a brothel.
    He's got a Trek Fuel 9.5 now.
Does the new trek "full floater" make any difference?

I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the mags are saying it does, they aren't sure about durability yet...
