Turbo VS Spin bikes - Loudness
Hi,
Annoying the neighbours with my loud cycleps turbo (surely there must be a way to quieten these things down?!?). Can anyone advise as to the loundess of a gym spin bike ? Thinking of buying one of the cycleops models. Would these be more or less silent if run in a shed?
Thanks in advance

Are you using a special turbo tyre, ie the continental version, this quietens things down a bit, as can using a rubber mat underneath. If you're in a shed I can't see a problem anyway? You could always use the turbo as a spin bike by not engaging the roller0

What sort of turbo have you got? The wind ones are very loud - other types are a lot quieter. Really not convinced by the idea of a gym spin bike for training (surely they're also much more expensive?)0

I've got a cycleops fluid 2. Still quite loud. I live in central London and work longish hours so getting in some half decent saddle time in can be problematic. I'll be doing a few sportives this year (Bealach Beag and Marmotte) and just need a unit to burn of a few kilos until it gets brighter.0 -
Hi
I would second the comment about the Continental Home Trainer tyre. It does make things quieter, and it runs cooler.
Shame about the bright orange colour though! (and it cannot be used on the road)
