Buses

Now I just find them annoying, they're in the way and are only good for catching a draft off... anyway to my main point
On the A23 buses will occasionally overtake me which is fine except when they're overtaking where the bus stop is and there are people waiting to get on with their arms stuck out looking very angry as the bus can't stop as it's too busy overtaking me; I could see passengers looking quite confused, when it stopped at the next stop I wagged my finger as I went past.
this has happened at 3 different times...
Anyone else had any interesting things with buses?

What annoys me on the bike (and when I'm on the bus) where there are multiple bus stops 200 or 300m away from each other and stops at everyone of them.
On the bike, the buses used to pass me, stop, pass me, stop, etc - now I take primary and don't let them pass without going into the other lane which generally discourages them passing me metres before a stop.
On the bus, I just think of all the lazy buggers who can't walk an extra 200m to the bus. Buses would stick to time better if they cut out all the needless stop and made the lazy buggers walk a bit further.0 -
I had a run in with a bus last week. I was approching a mini-roundabout, only options are left or straight on. I'm obviously going straight on as I'm not signalling left or in the left filer lane. Bus was approching from the left turn.
As I'm sensible/defensive in these situations, a slowed slightly, sat up to make myself more "visible" and made eye contact with the bus driver. I'd just got to the centre of the roundabout when I could tell from the buses engine noise that he wasn't slowing, but accelerating !
He just pulled straight out. I didn't have time to hit the brakes (I'd have hit him side on) so had to swere around him, onto the opposite side of the road, and ended up cursing propped up against a wall next to the kerb. Luckily no other traffic was coming the other way or I'd have had nowhere to go.
I saw him look back over his shoulder at me, I couldn't decide if he looked confused or was actually smirking at me
I lost it, I chased after the bus for a couple of stops, I must have looked a right nutter in his rear view mirror. I think I spooked him as he left a woman stranded at a stop (sorry lady) as I was getting very close at one stage, and then I lost him.
What was most infuriating is that I'm 99.9% sure he did see me and he just took the attitude "he's a bike, what's he going to do, he'll stop"0 -
That's annoying! DId you get his details and report him?0

Yep Clever Pun,
The bus stopped for the arm waver, and I fit it full bore. With my head. Nearly killed me (see previous whinging post and all the lovely supportive comments in previous thread).
What really gets me is getting back on my (new replacement) bike 6 weeks later and tentatively cycling back to work. Did Mr Bus Driver:
1. Pull in behind me and coast up to the layby bus stop - NO
2. Overtake me and draw into the layby bus stop - NO
3. Miss the stop, pass a side junction and stop (sharpish) on the inside lane of the Dual Carriageway 50m (FIFTY METRES) past his stop - YAY!
Must say, the log roll, CT scan and time off work has been interesting!
I am over it now though - HONEST
Part of bus drivers' training should be cycling their routes in rush hour once a month.0
