worn chain and cogs

ive just taken my road bike in for a new chain and ive also had to have my eight speed rear cogs replaced and my large front chain ring on my triple due to wear, ive done 2400 miles and my bikes 15months old, i mostly have chain on large front chainring but now relize i should use the middle chain more and change my chain about twice a year is this usually the case

    I've never changed a chainring in my life due to wear, only to alter the gear ratios. 2400 miles seems excessively short. My chains do for about 1200-1500 miles and a cassette lasts 3 chains.
