Hello People,
After arsing about with cleaning my chain on the bike for years, I've decided to get a powerlink for my new bike. Having looking into the posts on the forum I came to the conclusion that i would try to fit on to my XTR chain expecting it to be a bit of a struggle and maybe have to put shimano pins in it.
I was supprised to find that it went in very easily and didn't even need a chain tool. Is this normal or is my chain gonna fall off 30 miles from home.

Sorry the title should say Sram Powerlink.0

Are you saying that you had an already split XTR chain which you rejoined easily with a SRAM Powerlink?
If you are, then the answer is yes, it is that easy.
But if the chain was on your bike already, then you must have used a chain splitter to get it off before you could used the Powerlink to rejoin it."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0 -
Yep i did use a splitter to take a link out of my chain, but i was still expecting to have to use the tool to fit the powerlink.
People seem to have real trouble fitting them to shimano chains.0 -
Nah, they're easy to fit. A bit trickier to get off once they've been on for a while but you get a knack after a while."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0

Just make sure you remember to squeeze the flat sides of the power link together before attempting to undo it otherwise you'll be there all day tryign to get it undone.
