So I had my first ride into work after christmas today. Been 2 weeks off the bike plus all that crap eating/drinking over the holiday. It was a bit harder going than I remember, but I pushed through it. When I got to work I was almost sick but managed to hold it in. Anyone else having a hard time after christmas?

Especially hard today as the wind seems to have been battering most of the country....
  • Yes, the first few commutes last week were more difficult. I hadn't ridden properly for nearly a fortnight, had eaten a disgusting amount of cheese and chocolate over the holiday, and had been ill with some kind of virus. Not feeling so bad today though apart from being gusted about a bit. I also felt a bit sick on my first day back last week.

Yeah I had two weeks off also. It's amazing how much difference only two weeks off makes. My lungs were burning to keep up at the regular pace but the wind didn't help. Niether did the 4lbs I put on over Christmas.
    It's all good.

I've had all of December off after getting snipped at the end of November, first couple of rides were a struggle but I'm feeling some improvments already.

I started back today, although I was at work all last week (apart from Tuesday) - took the bus mon/wed/thu and the car on Friday - had a bad cold :(

Today I did a part-route cycle, stopping at the nearest train station to buy my monthly ticket. Was nice to be back out on the bike (and try out my new buff :) ), and didn't feel nearly as sluggish as I feared. Bike needs some work after 2 weeks off, though....

  • I personally have found it easier....went out once a few days before starting back on a long ride which was more difficult than the normal commute but it seems easier than I remember I think its due to the fact the last few weeks before christmas I was worn out and had one cold after another making breathing extra hard.

Can't wait for a bit more light to cycle home in though had enough of the nighttime riding and cold now.
