Free Hub for Shimano R550 Wheel
I have had these wheels on my winter bike for 3 years. The free hub seems to be failing. I can push on the pedal and there may be an extra half turn before the drive engages or they sometimes crunch and slip. This has causes me to whack my knee off the handlebar - painful
Do I need to replace the free hub and if so where can I get one online? Or are these wheels cheap and do I therefore buy a new wheel?
Thanks
Ed

Check out Ultimate Pursuits. I got a new freehub for my R540 wheels from them for about 20 quid. Cheaper than a new wheel.I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks0

I think you can get a pair of those wheels from Ribble for about £75. Given that the rims on yours are probably quite worn after 3 winters, you might be throwing good money after bad to replace the freehub, especially at 20 quid a throw. The freehub went on my winter bike after 4 years and on stripping it I noticed the hub bearings were also knackered.0
