Anyone got any recipes?
I've heard mixing (your favorite) natural fruit juice with water (don't know quantities/ratios) and adding a 1/2 teaspoon of salt is quite an easy method.
I'm just a bit sick of the brand I buy and find at £5 a cannister of powder (that lasts about 4 rides) pop quite expensive. (yeah I'm a skin flint)

Most of the energy drinks use maltodextrin as their source of carbs. So you can just buy plain maltodextrin and it works out loads cheaper. I normally buy it from MyProtein and just mix it with water and a bit of squash. They do an electrolyte powder too, which I guess you could mix in.
For shortish rides I tend to stick to the maltodextrin, for any thing longer I start using branded products.0 -
When adding Salt to your drink, consider 'Lite Salt' instead of Table Salt.
1/2 teaspoon of LS = 550mg Sodium + 750mg Potassium
1/2 teaspoon of TS = 1150MG Sodium + 0mg Potassium

yes... so long as you don't leave it to fester for weeks without a good clean...
if so - use milton sterilizing fluid or tablets or equivalent and leave to soak overnight... (gives it an interesting 'taste' but better than getting some horrid tummy bug)get on your bikes and ride!0 -
i just made an 'experimental' one of those recipies just in a glass, putting salt in makes the drink feel really 'dense' and weird.
it doesn't taste like it can be good for you!0
