I walloped my leg a while back, just below the knee and limped around for a week or so. After four months there's still a bit of a lump and it hurts if I kneel so I was wondering if I might have chipped the bone or something. Should I just ignore it or is it worth getting checked out? Don't want my doc to think I'm a wuss!!

    Months?! get it checked out.
  • Sounds like Patella tendonitis - Have a feel of the soft fat pad just below the kneecap (patella) if it's sore then you may have inflammation of the tendon that attaches the patella to the shin, this is the tendonitis and it's a pain - literally... particularly kneeling on it... sharp pains? like you've just knely on a 3 pin electical plug by mistake? Pointy end up?

As speers says, get it checked out - don't worry about the quack... they'll only refer you to a physio anyway so just find one... (Try your local gym/fitness center - even if you're not a member, chances are they'll have one on site (preferably one who knows knees) if not, they'll have contacts) Whatever you do DON'T IGNORE IT... it's not life threatening or anything but is probably Chronic by now so you need to get it treated. (by Chronic I mean that you've left it too long to be treated quickly)

Wuss, just get on with it, mine only took a couple of years to get fully recovered after ignoring the physios advice!

(Now where's the tongue in cheek emoticon?)

Sounds like a piece of scar tissue or something... they can calcify and are known to become uncomfortable when they do.
