Happy New Year.

I have just managed to strip the splines whilst removing my drive side bottom bracket cup (campy centaur 2007) - insert any one of several expletives.

Is there any way that it can be removed?

cheers

You must be able to clamp the cup in something and turn the frame around it.

Will effectively destroy the cup, but they can be picked up rather cheap.

Is this the 'square taper' type bottom bracket or the 'Ultra Torque' type?

You should probably ignore what I said then. I was thinking of the centaur ultra torque I had.

I though there may have been some confusion as i wouldn't have described the outboard cups as having 'splines'.

There isn't much material to play with on that type of BB, certainly not enough to get a good grip with a vice. I would suggest grinding a couple of small holes (working from the inside outwards) with a dremel (or similar tool) then turning the cups out with a peg spanner. For what it would cost to buy the tools though, if you don't already have them and don't think you'll need them again, give it to an engineering shop. There's usually loads of small engineering shops on industrial estates.

OK. Thanks for the responses. I'll give it some thought.
