Which waterproof jacket, Altura crosslite or Altura reflex?

Well I'm getting a "proper" waterproof for mtbing and adventure racing (off road running etc).

Having been down my LBS I'm left choosing between the altura crosslite and reflex. They both get good reviews, the only real differences s that the reflex fits a little better and has a vent flap across the back, but is a little more money.

Anybody had good or bad experiences with either of the above to help me choose?

Cheers,

Tim

  • Ended up getting a Gore-Tex Paclite running jacket, similar cut to a cycling one, but half price in the sale and some good zipped vents up front. Should be just the ticket for MTBing and adventure racing.

  • Sounds like a good call. I've had bad experiences with Altura stuff and if you want good waterproofing with breathability Gore-Tex or eVent is the way to go.
Even if the voices aren't real, they have some very good ideas.
  • I've got a Altura Velocity (slightly cheaper than the Crosslite) and its been fantastic. I ride XC and it has preformed flawlessly: very breathable and completely waterproof.
  • I only went for the Gore Tex as it was £5 more expensive than the altura, and the front vent system looked good. Probably not a lot in it performance wise but got swayed by the name last minute!
