If I take the primary, they try to run me over for a change. Either way, you can not win.
I went through the video, frame by frame using a video editing gsoftware, and I managed to read the name of the company. Should I do anything? Post the video to them? Is it worth it? Happens all too often... :(

  • God, that was close. I would do something and there's no way I would not be in primary there in future. No way for a car and bike there. Don't suppose the Police would be interested would they?

Worth a go, if the company dont take it seriously they are clearlya company to avoid in the future, any company with decent leadership will recognise that the point of having signage on a vehicle is advertising and the way a vehicle is driven can turn that into very negative advertising threatening the lives of potential customers doesnt do wonders for your business.

Personally I would say thats a PRIME place to take a VERY strong primary position, in places like that I say to hell with the drivers behind if its not safe to let them overtake dont let them. It actually looks there as if they cant go MUCH faster even for their life threatening overtake Looks like tis approaching heavy slow traffic or something anyway pointless dangerous manouvre.
  • That was chuffing close. You have got to be assertive at that point and take primary position otherwise some barsteward is going to go closer than that.

Primary position is defo required there, and well early to prevent lunacy like that. What a terrible overtake!

I would definitely complain to the company with the video as evidence. Bringing consequences to company drivers is part of the reason you have a video camera right?

    Hi,

That certainly was very close, very much a case of driving without due care and attention. I would also give the Police a ring. As we all know, they just have to overtake the cyclist

You might want to include a print out from the highway code theres a nice photo in there showing how to overtak cyclists :D Rule 163

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTr ... /DG_070314

Also worth noting the cyclists position in the road a nice firm secondary position, not a gutter hugger :D Thats fair enough on a virtually empty road im happy to take a decent secondary position but when its dangerous to overtake its time to use your position to stop them, it can take courage to hold theline against aggressive vehicles but I will hold my line against a HGV rather than being intimidated into a dangerous position.

    Waaaaaay too close!

Print out the highway code page...and put that with the CD and use your work address as a return address...last thing you want is a angry "builder" knocking on yer door.

As others have said the primary is the only place to be on that bridge...At least you have the cam footage

Dangerous driving, plain and simple. What an idiot.

I never like going over that bridge, or taking the right hand turning just before the bridge - the road leading up to that point is very straight and fast, and the majority of cars seem oblivious to the speed limit there.

    That really was close!

I'd certainly persue the company if not the police with this matter.

Some drivers just can't help themselves, I was out with a friend (on his brand new bike) yesterday evening when a driver, who I could tell was eager to get past us as he was riding my rear wheel, speed round as after coming round a blind corner then promptly turned left straight in front of the 2 of us!

Ditto. If the reg plate is readable make a formal complaint to the Police.

I hate that bridge. Have you seen the pavement on the video? The one to the right is identical to the one on my left and is designated as a....A CYCLE PATH. There is a big arrow painted on the tarmac just before the bridge (at the other end) pointing to the pavement and "advising" cyclists to ride on it. Take a good look at it--it is barely wide enough for a single ped to walk on it, not to mention it's dangerously slippery in the wet. You can get left-hooked really nicely at the end of the bridge if you take that cycle path--you have to see it to believe it.

I think it's not a company as such, but a contractor, and the name SEEMS to be "<name removed by user>". How can I post a still on the forum (a shot of the door) so that you can help me read the name?

EDIT: I reported it to the Police. It will take up to 10 days to hear back from them. I will keep the forum posted, so to speak

Here's the shot of the door. It looks like "<name removed by user> :?

    <link removerd by user>

EDIT: I decided to remove the company name for the time being as I am now dealing with them direct. As I said ealier, I also made a complain to the police via their website service.
