Bar end shifter problems Shimano)
I have just rebuilt all my components from one frame onto a new one. On the old frame everything worked fine.
The bar end shifter for the front mech now only changes between 2 chainrings, previusly it did all three. I've tried the stops on the front mech but this made no difference. :x
Is there a way of setting it up for 2 or 3 chainrings.
The bar end shifter, when in index mode, for the rear mech (8 speed) only index's on the top and bottom 2 'cogs' and becomes a friction shifter in the middle of the cassette.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Have you checked that you assembled the bar end shifters correctly? From memory, there's a couple of positions into which the components can be assembled which can influence the number of clicksMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Have you tried disconnecting the front mech. and trying to move it by hand? This would rule it out more thoroughly.

Check that the cable is clamped in the proper position on the rear mech - there's a right and wrong way.0

It's definately not that. That would throw the indexing out but it wouldn't change to a friction shift part way through the cassette.

Just took my rear shifter off to have a look and i think i know what you've done wrong. If you remove the leveryou will see that it sits on a square protrusion. On one side of this protrusion there will be a small lump, this alligns the shifter. If you look at the shifter there will be a square recess. Look very closely at this, one side is slightly different and has a (very) slight depression that locates on the lump mentioned earlier.
