Are evens any good for servicing?
My rear wheel is not true and I don't know if it will be a simple repair or replacement.
Looking at their charges I don't want to ripped off.
Anyone got any experience with this kind of repair with them?
My local store is Watford Way Hendon
Cheers

what do they charge? my local bike shop did my wheel for £6. They did a full service for £30 where Edinburgh bikes charged my husband nearer to £80.0

An oxymoron surely? The problem with Evans is that they have a high staff turnover like any chainstore, therefore the quality of the mechanics can vary considerably - you don't know if the jobs going to be done by somebody experienced or the saturday lad. I can't imaging their hourly rates are cheap either. I'd try and find a local shop with a good reputation.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

It is a bit of a lottery with Evans as it is with any chain I imagine.
Their store on Grays Inn road just near Condor is the technical centre and they trued my wheel perfectly.
Is there not a local independent shop near you?0 -

The Evans on GIR has now closed. I found that the one in Spitalfields did a great job servicing my Marin but, as Shavedlegs suggests, I think it's always a bit of a lottery.0 -
hmm it looks like the Hub is also knackerd.
So forgive me but I have NO clue when it come to bike parts. If I purchase a new wheel I also have to buy/fit a new hub plus the cassettes and a new chain??
I have an Urban Legend 300 2005 Model.
Wish i had got the bloody 2005 Levante now

If the hub is knackered, then it'll probably be cheaper just to bite the bullet and buy a new wheel - the hub is integral to the wheel. As long as you existing chain and cassette aren't worn, you can just get the shop to fit the old cassette on the new wheel - a few minute job only.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Cool
I'll take a walk down to my local Broadway Bikes at the weekend.
I'll just take the wheel with me and ask for a new one and for them to change over the cassettes and tyres.
Evans price list fill my with dread
thanks for all your help.0
