  • Problem is that we don't really treat people who confess with any respect. Riis for one, although he appears to be doing a lot of good work with CSC, and there is nothing to prove otherwise, was bannished from attending the tour last year.
A lot of people have been unimpressed with Zabel's 'crocodile' tears, although to me, it just went to show that if the sport's gentleman (think of a cycling Gary Linaker!), can do it then anybody could.
David Millar is not exactly Mr Popular, Sinkewitz, has been accused of bringing down T-Mobile sponsorship. Others have been ridiculed, or worse, threatened with lawsuits and otherwise.
The trouble is that support staff, ex-riders, and management are unable to tell their story without implicating every one else involved with the team, there is always a knock-on effect with those who currently have a stake in the sport, no matter how much they may now be trying to clean it up, and it will always be the riders who will take the brunt.
So we may have to wait a long time for Bruyneel's tale.
