Looking at replacing the other half's cassette mainly, chain will need replacing too I suspect. Wanting to get a 12-27 tooth rear to replace the 12-25 she has currently and came across this:

which looks like good value. Any reason not to go for this or why I should fork out for Dura-aceor similar?
Was going to get the Dura -ace chain for it, will this combination be ok?

Just get an Ultegra cassette. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Categories.aspx?CategoryID=533 Much cheaper at £27.99 and very hard wearing. Ultegra or Dura-ace chain will be fine.

I've found SRAM stuff to be very good, highly recommend them. However more expensive cassettes just tend to be lighter not necessarily more durable and as far as I know it's the chain that will wear the cassette not the other way round, so the better your chain the longer your whole drivechain will last. I'm sure someone more knowledgable will be along soon enough to shoot this theory down in flames. :D

If your budget is tight I'd think about a 105 or Ultegra cassette with a SRAM chain. I've found SRAM last much longer and are less likely to break than Shimano. I've broken 2 Shimano chains and never broken a SRAM one. SRAM come with the added benefit of a powerlink which makes cleaning easier.

I agree. Sram makes very good stuff. Unless "the other half" is a racer a Sram steel cassette, or any steel cassette, will last longer than Dura Ace, which is made for lightness and is not all that durable. Never had a problem with Sram chains.
