I have one of these devices ready to fit -

If you look at the pic there is a clamp shown at the bottom of the post. It is not a seatpost fitting clamp as it only just fits round the post itself and has a 2.5mm hex head. Would I be right in thinking it is a cunning little device to prevent the post from slipping down into the frame? I have never seen one before.

    maybe allows you to mark precisely how far in your seat post was when removing for servicing, adjusting etc.

    Looks like a seat clamp to me from the picture shown, why not wait till the shop is open and ask them, only an idea. Greetings Ademort

  • SJ - feel's suggestion is correct. It is a device for marking your precise seatpost embedment. I have one and it works very well too. :D

    Strange though as the post has graduation marks on it.
