Merry Xmas all.
Looking to purchase new set of brakes for my XC race bike. Max £200. Saw merlin have a deal on juicy carbon which I like the look of. Also playing with the idea of XTR dual control. If you have any other suggestions, let me know.
Also what is a good lightweight saddle?
Mant thanks
Dave

Oro what ever it is as the top level Puro? Bianco?
Saddle one of the I-beam combos."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I'd recommend the M970 Disc brakes and the Selle Italia SLR XP saddle.0

Juicy carbons are OK - I have them and have had no probs at all.
I run a specialized toupe team saddle and although it looks extreme its excellent. You can choose between two sizes for your SIT bones.

I'd steer clear of the dual control levers. Too much to go wrong and expensive to replace when one bit gets pranged. They're akin to "flappy paddle gear boxes" on cars.
Merlin have the 07 XTR discs for £199 - http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/?fn=product&productId=23&categoryId=1150 -

Isn't the toupe a road specific saddle? Am waiting for specialized to start marketing the Phenom (as fitted to the Epic Marathon Carbon) in the UK2009 Cove Handjob

It's under the road saddle section on the spesh website, but I'm sure my LBS has them under the mtb saddle section."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

Selle San Marco through Madison (www.ultimatepersuits.co.uk) come out really light. You can get one that's 185g claimed weight for about £45. If they're not telling porkies then that's 45g lighter than a Gobi and £30 cheaper too!Rule 64:
Cornering confidence generally increases with time and experience. This pattern continues until it falls sharply and suddenly.

Andrew they are hideous!
Great saddles but those colour schemes are gash! :shock:0 -
Was thinking the same myself Cheesey. Those saddles would abusolutely ruin the look of any bike they went on!"Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

he he - they truly are disgusting - if you even have a bike with 'similar' colouring - don't do it!!!
Andrew - DO NOT buy one of those for the new rig - unless you want to devalue-it by£3000 -
I have one of the aria and one of the aqua
At that price there isnt a better race saddle as a balance of weight and comfort.0 -

Never seen such horrific looking saddles andrew - you were joking right?
Rather nick the saddle off me mams shopper!I hate it when people say David Beckham's stupid...its not like anyone ever says: 'Stephen Hawking - he's s**t at football.' Paul Calf0 -
It's going under your arse so the design makes no difference and at 30 quid for that saddle its an absolute bargain.0
