HI.
Here's a good one.
I have a shimano Octalink chainset which has not had much use, but the insert in the drive arm is damaged. It was miss aligned and some of the splines were damaged.
When riding with this, it clicks when riding hard up climbs.
Is it possible to get the insert removed and replaced? It must have been glue fixed in originaly surely?

maybe you could pick up a spider at least? (unless you are scared of them like me) - would at least save the rings...?

'fraid not - the splined fittings are broached into the solid metal and I doubt anyone outside Shimano's factory has the set up to redo the splines. You could try something like Devcon Aluminium repair, but you might never get it off the BB! Sadly, one of the downsides of HT1 chainsets was the ease by which to fit them incorrectly! Don't think there's any other fix except the trash can!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I got a new ultegra set off ebay but will see what I can do with this, maybe try shimano repair centre or try to get just the spider.0
