Take the pedals odd and lube the threads, take the cranks off and lube the joint and the threads, take the BB out and lube the threads. If it still creaks after that, change the BB. Good luck.

Had the same thing on my bike a couple of times with an Octalink BB.
Just take it out re-grease and copalip the threads and refit the BB securely.
The only other annoying creaks I've had in that area were when my pedal bearings were worn out.

Also try tightening your seat post clamp... a popular source of creaking noises.

I would grease it rather than tighten.

And if you haven't greased your seatpost, I'd be tempted to have a go at removing it first if you can.

You might need to have a few Weetabix first

also the seat-clamp to seat-rails area can creak/click too so grease those up as well while your at it, so basically grease up everything heh
  • Could it be your bearings?

I had a creaking Headset and when opened up my bearings were shot. All mashed up with flakes of metal all over the place.

    very handy thread.
It seems that the only likely candidate left in the hunt for my creak is the BB. I guess that's going to have to come out tonight!
