Good kit
Here are a few of my winners and losers from the last few years of testing clothes and other bits of kit. Feel free to endorse/ disagree:
Gilet
Biemme Windstopper - warm, cheap and with rear pockets! (For something lighter to stuff into a pocket, I use the Sportful Hotpack. Very cheap and reasonably breathable)
Winter top
Assos Airblock - expensive, I know - but feel the quality. Also, I have been using one of these for the last 11 years, so they truly last. Keeps you warm but you do not cook.
Tights
Santini - no pad, but again great warmth at a good price. They fit nicely too.
Socks
In the Winter, De Feet Woolie Boolie do the trick
Shoes
Sidi Ergo 2 - you pay for what you get. In this case, perfect fit, comfort and stability.
Shorts
A tough one this. I suppose I would go for Endura, but their sizing seems a bit uneven. I wouldn't say that Assos shorts are that much better. Other recommendations gratefully received.
Gloves
Planet X windstoppers - surprisingly warm, given their lack of bulk. Steer clear of the Gore gloves.
