if i was to get a set of rock shox forks with u-turn system would this mean i could adjust the travel using a knob on the top??? such as the revelation forks which say they go from 80mm-130mm would i be able to set them to a desired travel???

thanks aron

  • Yep, your understanding is right. You can change the travel to anywhere in between 80 & 130mm by turning a dial. (On my Tora's one full turn changes the travel by about 7mm I think, meaning multiple turns are required to change a siginificant amount of travel)

In reality, I find it a bit too faffy to change the travel when I'm out riding so I leave it somewhere in the middle (around 100mm). If I was doing a ride whereby I am doing a distinct long climb, and then a distinct long descent I would use it to change the travel, but most of the riding I do is more fragmented.

Changing the compression on the other hand, is very handy and I use this a lot.

    Hope this helps.

above post is correct. i have owned pikes, revelations and rebas all with u turn but not adjusted any of them from the longest setting.

i wouldnt choose to spend more on a uturn model if you are on a budget as its not that big a deal (in my opinion)

also , if you are buying an adjustable fork to match the travel requirements of your current bike, ask yourself if its worth carrying the extra weight of a longer fork if you are only going to ride in a shorter setting. for the most part, rock shox make a fork for most travel lengths without riding a fork you have to keep wound down (especially as winding the fork down affects the spring rate too.)
