Hi,

I have an old thing of beauty, a 20-hole Pete Matthew's Pianni rim. I want to build it up with a 20-hole Campag compatible 10-speed rear hub.

Anyone know where I can find one? Any make / model considered.

So far, I've only heard of Royce handmade hub but the price was too high for me.

Thanks.

Tune (probably more expensive than Royce). AC RD205 (though I never hear good things about rear AC hubs).
  • dt 240 simply the best for the job Almost sound as good as Campag

20 hole rear hub!? If you'd said front you could have a Campag Pista (ie Shamal) hub.

You could get a Bora, Shamal Ultra, Eurus or Zonda 21 hole rear hub and fill in the remaining hole with some Polyfilla!! :D
I'd rather walk than use Shimano

American Classic hubs are a little bit stronger now that they stopped using weenie bearings - bearing replacement is quite easy and cheap anyway. You could always use a Shimano freehub and one of the numerous Shiman splined/Campag-spaced cassettes so you might be able to get something from Hope, for example, or the aforementioned DT Swiss. Might also be worth contacting Pete Matthews himself to see what he has.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Ta everyone.

Some good suggestions, some a bit pricey.

I'll keep looking ... Probably just buy some old wheel off the 'bay and re-use the hub.
