I got a hole in my bibs , my bibs , my biibs
So how can I fix it ?

Don't know how but I've torn a hole in the arse of them . It doesn't show up too bad as I wear shorts underneath but wouldn't mind fixing them (or more accurately getting the wife to)

but how ?

Pretty much knackered I would say. You can't stitch them as the stitching would risk causing a saddle boil. You could always try an adhesive patch but that might not survive washing.

Had the same thing happen with my pearl izumi tights last year (scuff guard on my octavia saddle had arough patch that was rubbing) and just carefully stitched them on th outside so they stil felt smooth inside.
I always wear shorts under mine too, and have worn them almost daily from oct to march for the past 2 years with no ill effects to my derriere

I'd just stitch them. If you have chamois shorts underneath I cant see that it would cause you a problem ? My saddles have stitching on and thats never bothered me. If they do though - well at least you tried.

Duct tape, yeah, yeah, that's the ticket.

Weld them, mig, tig? Depends on the strength you need.

    Relax, it's only a thing

Strange response by bikers 46, maybe reflective of the american throw away lifestyle, why fix when you can get new!!

Actually, I wouldn't think of throwing it away, I would buy new and wear them. Save the old as a back up. Normally, I buy two of what I need so I always have something to wear, use, etc. if in fact I decide to repair whatever is damaged. If you look at my first response, I did not suggest throwing anything away. I suggested buying a new one. I make enough money to be able to afford some things others can't. I guess that's my problem, no one elses.

And, as always, it's time to start the personal attacks. Is that how Brits or residents of the UK treat everyone, or is that only your procedure? When in doubt, attack the personal integrity of others you've never met?

I see alot of posts on these boards I don't even care to be involved in, mainly because I don't agree with the remedies presented.

You guys seem to always need to make this stuff personal.

Try some Gore-Tex repair patches - they are self-adhesive but are better is applied with a cool iron. I managed to shred a pair of Assos Airblock tights and the Gore Tex patches held up for a year or two - not too conspicuous either as they come in black.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Bikers 46, it wasn't meant as a personal attack, just the condescending attitude that is sometimes used in the forums tends to get my back up.
But that'smy opinion, so let's put it to bed now.

What hurt the most? Thefall or the shredded Airblocks?? I had my second ride in mine today, had a wobble on an icy bit, and the immediate thought was ''oh b***l***s my tights!!'', especially since I have badgered my wife to let me havr them early for Xmas

    Yeah, figured as much.

Then let me lead, "I'm sorry if I've offended you in any way. If so, it certainly was not intentional. I will do my best to not allow it to happen again." Didn't hurt a bit.

a lot of dry cleaners also do repairs. In the past i have been amazed in the past how good their "invisible" mending can be - might be worth checking out, especially if they were expensive.

See, they return, and bring us with them.
  • Thanks for the replies . I think I'll get the wife to stitch them up first and see how it goes . If that doesn't work propoerly then I'll look into getting some og the Gore Tex patches .They weren't expensive (lusso max repels) but even so I don't think I'll be chucking them just yet . I'm not too bothered if they look a bit tatty .
